How to Become a Refuse To Be A Victim® Instructor
Join the Refuse To Be A Victim® instructor team and teach your community essential personal safety strategies. Both men and women can become instructors by attending an Instructor Development Workshop (IDW).
Steps to Become an Instructor:
- Attend an IDW: Led by Regional Counselors, the workshop includes a seminar on the program’s technical aspects, instructor expectations, certification guidelines, speaking techniques, presentation skills, and marketing strategies.
- Get Certified: After completing the workshop and receiving a Regional Counselor’s endorsement, submit the required paperwork and fees to the NRA to obtain your instructor credentials.
Instructor Responsibilities:
- Host Seminars: Organize seminars for community groups, organizations, and businesses. Topics include criminal psychology, automobile crimes, cybercrime, home security, carjack prevention, cyber safety, and the use of personal safety devices.
- Seminar Duration: Full seminars can last up to eight hours, while shorter sessions on specific topics can be as brief as 90 minutes. Participants receive a student handbook, brochures, a firearms supplement, and a course completion certificate.
Program Goal: The Refuse To Be A Victim® program equips individuals with knowledge and tools to create personal safety plans. It covers relevant topics for men, women, young adults, parents, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Special modules are available for parents to help protect children of different ages.
Summary: Attend an IDW, complete the required paperwork, and become a certified Refuse To Be A Victim® instructor. Educate your community on crime prevention strategies and empower participants to enhance their personal safety.
